The survey for this Osterman Research white paper was conducted in December 2009 and consisted of respondents who are currently using a hosted email archiving platform and were the decision maker on selecting the solution.

The survey sample provides a balance of customers using different vendors in the hosted email archiving market weighted by their approximate share, and provides a cross section of industries and organizational size.

The size of respondents ranged from five employees to 74,000 employees with a mean of 4,613 employees and a median of 104 employees. Those surveyed included customers of all hosted archiving vendors.
