Harvard Business School
Eugene Soltes is the Jakurski Family Associate Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School where his research focuses on corporate misconduct and fraud, and how organizations design cultures and compliance systems to confront these challenges. He is the recipient of the Charles M. Williams Award for outstanding teaching and author of the bestselling book Why They Do It: Inside the Mind of the White-Collar Criminal. Professor Soltes’ research has been widely cited in the media including in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The New York Times, NPR, and The Economist and he is regularly invited to speak to regulatory bodies including the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the United States Treasury. Prior to joining the faculty of the Harvard Business School, Professor Soltes received his PhD and MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and his MA in statistics and BA in economics from Harvard University.
Former Head of FINRA Enforcement
As the former head of enforcement at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Susan Schroeder has deep insight into the priorities and procedures of the regulatory bodies that govern the financial services industry, including the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), FINRA, exchanges, and state securities regulators. In addition, Ms. Schroeder calls on her extensive experience overseeing thousands of regulatory investigations to assist and advise clients in all aspects of internal investigations, including detecting potential misconduct, complying with reporting obligations and effectively remediating systemic problems. Ms. Schroeder rejoined WilmerHale in 2020 after eight years at FINRA, where she served as the head of enforcement from 2017–2019 and the deputy head of enforcement from 2011–2017. Ms. Schroeder initially joined WilmerHale in 2004, and represented investment banks, investment advisers, broker-dealers, public companies, hedge funds and individuals in a wide range of enforcement matters before the SEC, SROs and state securities authorities.

Elin Cherry is founder and CEO of Elinphant, L.L.C., a financial compliance consulting firm. She is a Capital Markets and Compliance Executive who has served as a key member of Compliance Senior Management teams. Known for gaining regulator confidence, she has a proven track record in managing regulatory relations and examinations and has strengthened firm’s credibility with regulators during times of financial stress.
Former Executive VP and Chief Technology Officer,
Marty has more than 30 years of strategy, technical, operational, compliance and risk management experience. He is a recognized technology leader in assessing, designing, building, and operating large-scale platforms in complex and fast-paced environments.
Marty is currently serving as a managing partner and Chief Technology Officer at Cloud Partners. He previously served as NASD/FINRA Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer from 2001 to 2013. He led the development of the organization’s technology strategy, including application development, maintenance, architecture and operations. As a member of FINRA’s operating committee, he successfully linked the technology strategy to the regulator’s mission and business plan, and implemented it across FINRA. Marty currently serves on several advisory boards at technology companies, and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and roundtable events.
Anthony J. Diana
Anthony is the co-chair of Reed Smith's IP, Tech & Data Group and focuses his practice on commercial litigation, internal and regulatory investigations, electronic discovery and information governance, and data privacy and security. Anthony is a recognized leader in e-discovery and information governance issues, nationally ranked in this area by Chambers. Anthony has counseled large financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers on all aspects of the discovery and management of electronic information, including: the development of policies and procedures for the preservation, collection, review, and production of electronically stored information. Anthony has been an editor of the Electronic Discovery Deskbook, a treatise published by PLI, since its original publication in 2009. He is a frequent speaker on electronic discovery and information governance issues and has published numerous articles on these topics.

With experience leading many of the core functions of SaaS companies, Brian Cramer takes a “whole business” approach to driving performance improvement. Brian’s mission is to grow the enterprise and customer base through product and service excellence. A strong believer in process and metrics, his focus is on continuously improving the operational capabilities of the firm to enhance the experience of current and future customers.
Before joining Smarsh, Brian was the Chief Operating Officer of Granicus, where he focused on customer support, professional services, and acquisition integration. For the past 15 years, Brian has held various leadership positions with software and software-enabled businesses, he and worked in the semiconductor industry in the U.S. and Asia earlier in his career. He holds degrees from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management.

Greg is a mission-focused leader who converts emerging technologies into successful solutions. He builds breakthrough teams and leads those teams with market vision and operational excellence. He champions agile product development and strategic product management to deliver just-in-time value to rapidly evolving markets. He is passionate about leadership, innovation, and creating success in the marketplace. Greg learned the science of innovation at NASA where he pioneered the Internet's first system for B2B electronic commerce. He joined Premenos to launch the industry's first Internet EDI product and bootstrapped the next generation of B2B middleware with Cyclone Commerce where he delivered successive generations of Cyclone's flagship B2B gateway. Greg went on to build big data cloud platforms for healthcare, logistics, and financial services.
Vice President of
Brian Panicko is Vice President of Mobility Strategy at Smarsh, where he is responsible for evolving the landscape of mobility solutions. Brian is a passionate evangelist with nearly two decades of experience providing global banks expert knowledge and consulting in mobile security, Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM), and compliant archiving of voice and text. Prior to joining Smarsh, he held executive roles at CellTrust and JPMC.
Vice President of
Adam serves as VP of Product Strategy at Smarsh, where he works to set product strategy and vision, drive product innovation and business development, and influence product design, planning, investment and execution.
Prior to Smarsh, Adam was an attorney at a large Silicon Valley law firm, where he worked with premier B2B and consumer technology clients to raise over $1 billion in private and public transactions, as well as providing counsel on IP and corporate governance matters. He also worked as an economic consultant in New York and San Francisco, where he supported expert witness testimony for complex commercial litigation, including securities, bankruptcy and antitrust disputes.
Adam graduated from Wesleyan University with a BA in Economics, and from the University of Michigan Law School with a JD, cum laude.
Marianna Shafir is Corporate Counsel and Regulatory Advisor at Smarsh, where she’s responsible for legal and regulatory affairs worldwide. In addition, she helps Smarsh clients navigate compliance obligations, technology trends, and new industry regulations through her vast knowledge of best practices related to electronic communications supervision. Prior to joining Smarsh, she worked for BNY Mellon and Invesco in varying compliance roles.
