This Connected Suite Spotlight is about new voice support for Connected Capture, Enterprise and Professional Archive

Earlier this year, Smarsh announced its end-to-end voice compliance solution that enables customers to capture and archive voice content alongside their other electronic communications. Smarsh has now enhanced this solution by extending voice support to Microsoft Teams. This much anticipated development helps organizations - particularly throughout EMEA - to embrace Microsoft Teams for their newly remote workforce, while meeting their compliance requirements with confidence.

The regulatory context

Highly regulated industries operating in EMEA are bound by global regulatory requirements for the capture, retention and oversight of voice and electronic communications content. The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II), Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) continue to affect increasing numbers of financial services organizations. Outside EMEA, more organizations than ever are seeing the value of capturing and archiving voice content. Too many of these organizations still have siloed oversight processes for voice and electronic communications. Worse still, some can’t capture voice content at all, which either limits the communications channels they can adopt or significantly increases their risk exposure. If you’re one of these organizations, Smarsh can transform your compliance barriers into productive collaboration with Microsoft Teams.

How does it work?

Teams voice files can be captured and sent to your selected Smarsh Archive, either Professional or Enterprise. Voice files can also be transcribed and retained in your Smarsh archive, complete with call metadata. From there, your voice content can be searched, played back, analyzed, added to a case, flagged by policies, added to a supervision queue and exported. Smarsh takes the imprecise problem of voice interactions and turns it into a solvable, workflow-friendly content stream. Voice is treated just like all other electronic communications content, e.g. email, social media, and text messages, reducing the complexity of your organization’s records management.

Other supported voice channels:

Smarsh enables the secure and easy capture, archive, supervision, discovery and playback of voice content from virtually any recording system including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Mobile, turret systems and collaboration platforms. Besides Microsoft Teams, popular channels include Skype for Business, Avaya, Cisco, Mitel, IPC, IP Trade, Speakerbus and Zoom.

Manage Teams voice content alongside all other communications

Within Smarsh Enterprise Archive solutions, voice content is available alongside more than 80 supported communication channels, including email, instant messaging and collaboration tools, social media and mobile/text messaging. This streamlines supervision and e-discovery workflows and delivers increased responsiveness to investigations. It also relieves manual processes and simplifies the resolution of internal disputes.

With voice support for Microsoft Teams, you can now:

  • Archive Teams voice content, including call metadata, alongside all other electronic communications content
  • Automatically transcribe Teams voice content, which allows it to be searched alongside other text-based content
  • Quickly access, search, and export Teams voice media files and metadata
  • Meet global compliance and e-discovery requirements effectively with a unified solution

Voice support for Microsoft Teams is available now.
